WHO Preventing Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual Violence Against Women Regional Workshop

James and Stephanie attended the three-day WHO workshop in Manila, on preventing IP and SV in the Asia Pacific region. The workshop was jointly supported by Partners for Prevention and WHO. The coursework of the workshop covered nine modules on IP/SV prevention, which were based on the WHO Preventing Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Against Women: Taking Action and Generating Evidence manual, published in 2010.

The modules were presented jointly by WHO representatives from HQ and P4P. P4P added data and input on presentations pertaining regional specific risk and protective factors related to experiences of violence, and also presented evidence and evaluation of primary prevention strategies from the region.

Participants of the workshop included Dr Boupha, MP Lao PDR, as well as (non-MP status) delegations from five other Asia and Pacific region countries: Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Samoa, Vietnam, and the Philippines. A representative from AUSAID also joined the conference.
